Lent is a time for us to slow down, to strike a more somber tone and turn our attention to the “wilderness” around us. But after a year of dealing with a global pandemic, and with the promise of relief more real than ever before, this year’s Lenten theme will focus on healing.

Being in the process of healing is far from Eden. Sometimes healing comes with more pain. And sometimes, healing never leads to wellness. But it is a hope and striving for some relief.

This Lenten season, let us focus on our weariness and heavy burdens. Let us walk a path toward healing and turn to God for rest. Let us not forget where we have been, let us not forget those around us still in need of care. But let us, with a gentle and humble heart, follow Christ’s path through ministry, arrest, scorn, and crucifixion…. trusting in the healing promise of the resurrection.
